On the reverse you'll see the pair of them together with a special lenticular feature depicting the Rebel Alliance Starbird and the planet Tatooine, a design which has been officially approved by Lucasfilm Ltd. R2-D2 and C-3PO are no exception, being played by English actors Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels respectively. The British association with the Star Wars series is strong, with scenes of the movies being shot in the UK and British actors and actresses taking a prominent role in the cast. The sci-fi duo made their first appearance in this film and they reappeared in all but one of the following feature length movies, spanning a period of over 42 years. The first Star Wars film, retrospectively called 'Episode IV - A New Hope', was released in 1977 and was the brainchild of the celebrated filmmaker, George Lucas.
